Re: [orca-list] VirtualBox

Hi,
There is no sound in the virtual machine. I have specified pulse as the audio output and sb16 as the
audiocontroller.
I have also reinstalled VirtualBox but with the same result.
Windows is installed proprely. I even tried inserting the Ubuntu Live CD but there is no sound with that as
well.
I get no error message when I start the vm from gnome-terminal.
If I change audiooutput to alsa i get an error mesasge. But not wiht pulseaudio.
But my system has no problem with audio.
Best regards,
Christian

Hi all, yes, I know that this is a little off topic. But just wanted

latest version?

no, can't confirm.

I installed it on my Ubuntu hardy system and there is no sound.

What do you mean by "no sound?" Is there no sound in the virtualized OS
or also in your host system?

As far as I know, Hardy uses PulseAudio, so PA might have occupied your
sound card. Try switching VirtualBox's audio output to "pulse":

 VBoxManage modifyvm <name_of_your_virtual_machine> -audio pulse

If PulseAudio isn't used, "alsa" is the recommended choice:

 VBoxManage modifyvm <name_of_your_virtual_machine> -audio alsa

cheers
