Re: [orca-list] Error announcing live region changes

I'm quite new to this thing of live regions. I understand the concept
but wonder if many websites do it with any accessibility in mind. I
was trying to use www.verizonwireless.com the other day and attempted
to login. When failure messages were shown from an invalid login
attempt, they were not spoken. Even with these upcomming fixes, would
this site be expected to work properly or does the web developer have
to jump through other hoops too?

I'm still using Orca 2.20.3; haven't gotten brave with the svn route
just yet, let alone applying patches. :)

Thanks for experimenting with this very new feature. I will committing a
large change to live region support in the very near future, possibly
today or tomorrow. See http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=505742
. Were you using this patch or just the trunk version? Hopefully the
patch takes care of this issue. I'll check it out later today.

Thanks for your input!

Hi all

I am experimenting with the latest live region announcement.

I have tested it with accessibleajax.clcworld.net examples
http://accessibleajax.clcworld.net/simple/live_polite.htm

If I am OK Orca should announce live region changes when it's iddle, so I read to the end of the page and
then stop for a while, but Orca doesn't announce any changes :-(

Changes are announced only if I change focus to other tab (with control + tab key) and then go back to
the live region tab with control+ shift + tab.

If this a known bug? Or live region support is not finished at all
I found this feature very great, thanks guys for your hard work

Regards,

Javier
