From the log you've sent it is obvious that Speech Dispatcher
got restarted or configuration reloaded. Perhaps the client applications
wern't able to reconnect to it or perhaps there occured some problem during
the reload. The error message about /var/run/speech-dispatcher.pid not
possible to create is very suspicious.

I still don't understand what updatedb or some other daemon
process has to do with restarting Speech Dispatcher. The restart
could however be related to logrotate. Could you please send me
a few minutes around the crash log from /var/log/syslog? Also, could
you please send a longer excerpt from speechd.log with loglevel set
to 5?
