I would like to do the same thing. I think the easiest way to go
would probably to use Speech Dispatcher and write a synth module for
serial based synthesizers. I started to look into this once a while
back but never got off the ground. Just too many other things going
on I guess. But we could probably start with a serial-generic module
and include parms in it for the various synths since they all
generally work similarly; just differend codes used for same commands
by each synth.
But nothing available right now sor serials.

Hi list,
Just wondering, is it possible to make a hardware synthesicer that is
connected to the computer via the serial interface work with Orca? I
still have an old Infovox synth here which I'm using under Windows to
make it sing and stuff, so would like to know if it's possible to make
it work with orca if anyone here knows that. Thanks!
Robin
