Hi Hermann:

Can you run Orca from the command line and see if any output is given? 
I recently made two changes to trunk that might be causing the watchdog 
to kick in and kill Orca (though I tested this pretty extensively before 
checking the code in).

The message would be something like this:

   Orca watchdog detected something bad.  Cleaning up.
