Re: [orca-list] Using gconf-editor

Hi to all

Christian you can navigate between panels using control+alt+tab keys
Then you will hear the name of differents panels, then you have to leave control+alt+tab key and you will be
on the panel you hear.

I recoment you reading the GNOME accessibility guide at http://www.gnome.org/learn/access-guide/2.14/

Regarding gconf-editor I played with it a months ago, and there are accessibility issues in the tree view,
one I know is reading the key value column. This issue is reported and is waiting to be fixed.
See bug #342420 in Bugzilla (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=342420 )
Also refer to bug #353446 (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353446 ) the Orca bug where this issue
is tracked in Orca.

Hope this help

Regards,

Javier

Asunto: [orca-list] Using gconf-editor

Hi there,

I get the impression, my gnome desktop doesn't contain the
top and bottom panels and there are no icons on the desktop.
I had a look at /home/someone/Desktop and there is nothing to
find. After adding an icon to the desktop using shift+f10 and
looking into this directory, I see the corresponding file,
which holds the data for that icon called *.desktop

I read something about the gconf-editor and started it using
alt+f2. After some minuts of playing I found out how to use
the tree view, or better, I found out how to to perform
_some_ actions. Orca isn't very responsive inside the tree
view and I don't know how to actually use the gconf-editor to
add the top and bottom panel to my desktop for instance. Did
someone of you already use the gconf-editor and if so would
you please tell me, how to add let's say the top panel?
Another point of interest for me is, how to determine, if the
panels are actually vanished. How do I change focus from the
desktop to one of the panels?

Is the lack of responsiveness concerning gconf-editor a known
issue and if so, is already clear what causes the
responsiveness problems? What can I do to get rid of it?
Maybe it is easier to answer these questions, if I tell you,
that I did a 'normal' install of Edgy. No actions where made
to change the default settings at least not on purpose :-)

Regards,
/Christian
