I suggest you read the "Architecture" section from the Orca specification.
If you've checked out Orca from SVN, then you will find this (via the
browser) at:
file:///<path/to/orca/source>/docs/doc-set/orca.html#ARCHITECTURE
where "<path/to/orca/source>" is wherever you checked out Orca.
