Re: Orca Expression of interest for latest version of for Edgy.

Wow, I forgot that Edgy uses Orca 1.0.x....

While I suspect most of us here are comfortable building and installing Orca ourselves, that's going to change as the user community continues to grow. Therefore, regardless of what is decided for Edgy, looking long term I think it would be great if getting the latest version of Orca were more easily accomplished by the "average" end user. That could be through maintaining a backported package as Luke suggested or through an Orca feature a la this RFE:

Just a thought....

I say "please do!" :-)

I use/develop Orca every day on Edgy, and the 2.17.x versions offer many improvements over the 1.0.x versions.

Thanks!

Hi all
I am wondering whether there is anybody who would make use of a backported package of orca 2.17.90 on Edgy?

IF there is enough interest, I will create a package and make it available. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
