Hi all,
For resolving the problem of multiple sound sources and oss, I remember that Matt Cambel wrote a program 
called usound, 
a daemon which mixed all sound streams into one so that oss wouldn't complain.  It ran as a daemon, and 
required root 
priveleges, and also came with a library and api header file for c apps to use.  I'm searching for an url to 
it now.
