I somewhat doubt it, but have you checked the actual code the compiler 
complains about, i.e. lines 1398, 1429, 1617 and 1781 in 
include/orbit/orb-core/iop-defs.h?

In my versions I see declarations of 3- or 4-element arrays, which 
doesn't seem too large...
