The server was ported from Mico code. Thanks for
the reminder. I will try to figure out the problems.
I did run valgrind on the server, but without the
option you gave.

Um; if this changed fixed it: then it was crashing because of
user-error in your own reference counting - and this 'fix' is in fact
hiding some serious bugs in your code that will come back and bite you
_hard_ in future.

I would. I'd also run valgrind --alignment=8 over your code in the
meantime to find those problems.
