MS-Windows client to Linux server ?

Hi,

I have developed an ORBit-based client-server system on Linux, but we
now get a question for linking an MS-windows based client to our Linux
server system.

What do we need to get our ORBit client compiled under MS-Windows ? Do
we have to use a commerical compiler in order to allow our customer to
build his software to connect to our Linux server ? I have heard about
Cygwin for compilation under MS-Windows, but would somthing like MS
Visual C++ also do ? Could we create a .dll with an ORBit-based software
library on MS-Windows NT, 2000 and XP for our customer in his own
software, regardless of the MS-Windows compiler ?

Are there other ORBs running under MS-windows which a customer could use
to connect to our ORBit server ? How do we best communicate the IOR string ?

Best regards,
