	Ok - then this is an internal gmake error / bogosity - looks like an
over-enthusiastic translation team screwed up somewhere. Can you test
with gmake-3.79.1 [ what I'm using with no problems ], and then file a
bug against GNU make [ that may take a little effort tracking down who
is responsible ].

	Great catch though, It might be useful for the team to also see a diff
-u of the result of a 'make -d' in that directory in both circumstances
[ that is if the debug strings are not translated ].
