While I have not tried with ORBit2, I was able to successfully
facilitate communication between a java corba object and a client in C
using ORBit1.  I did so using java-1.2.x and the external sun idl
compiler (idltojava) which was later replaced (in the 1.3 series) with
idlj.  I did not use the nameservice, but was able to bind to the java
object using the IOR.
