orb.idl problem

I am attempting to compile ORBit2-2.3.107 on an SGI O2 running under IRIX
6.5 using gcc 3.0.3.  When compiling corba-defs.idl in src/orb/orb-core
using src/idl-compiler/orbit-idl-2, I get the following error message:

/home/joel/local/src/ORBit2-2.3.107/src/idl/CORBA/orb.idl:60: Error: 
Interfaces cannot be named `TypeCode'

There was a similar problem posted in March 2001 but I am unable to find
any reply.
