hrm, after some thoughts, I think I will go around to use option 2) 
whcih is to write a separate process to feed data in the IR.

Btw, if you are curious as to why I want to do all this,
you could have a look at the cvs module 'mango' : cvs -z3 co mango

I would be happy for any feedback or flame about it.
