First let me thank everyone for their responses.  Mr
Bradford wrote me and told me that it was a DNS
problem.  After adding the machines names to the
/etc/hosts files, it works fine (at least on the two
newly installed machines).  Thanks again everyone.  

Mr. Das, I will forward you a copy to Mr. Bradford's
e-mail.
