You can use the program gnomevfs-info to figure out what mime type python scripts are resolving to. I'm getting MIME text/x-python here, and this is defined in the /usr/share/mime/packages/freedesktop.org.xml file. <mime-type type="text/x-python"> <sub-class-of type='application/x-executable'/> <sub-class-of type="text/plain"/> There might not be a desktop file associated with the MIME-type text/x-python, so nautilus is falling back to the subtype application/x-executable and it finds that gajim is registered as the handler for this MIME type. Just a guess.
Ah, yes, that explains it. Thanks! I also noticed that the up-n-comming Debian package of 0.10 doesn't have that MIME type listed and gajim is indeed gone from the Open With... list for python scripts.
