Most of this is not about coding and how to do it. I trust Chema won't

Oh, I think it does. though I'll cut most of them to talk a bout one point
at the end.

Chema, are such lists of "lots of people meet this" and categories
of "this program crashes when... and when... and when..." likely to
be useful on gnome-love?

I'd think so, along with a set of additions to the todo list. If Chema et
al. are correct about the best way to get into GNOME hacking (and I think
they are) then the more opportunities for people to jump in and start
working the better. And the better publicized those opportunities are,
the more likely people will jump on them.
