I just joined the list and saw this insteresting thread going on.

I had about the same thoughts.  IE has two states.  It moves from "file
browsing" mode to "web browser" mode depending on what you type as a
url.  In the same fashion a nautilus window could turn into galeon and
back depending on what url is in it.  It would require certain things to
be shared like bookmarks (which should also be a component).

Offhand, I don't know what it would take either.  I suspect it it's a
Bonoboframe that holds either nautilus or galeon depending on what it
is.  I'm looking at it as a grouping of boxes that needs to be switched
around (musical chairs/bonobo? :-) depending on what is typed.
