The current panel still works with the GNOME 1.4 distribution, so you

We can help you polish it if you want.

Cool, its definitely not the biggest piece of code in the world, it only
took me like an hour once i figured my way around the panel code, but I
think its worth checking in. Some night this week i will dig it out and
make a patch.

Next question, I'm not increadably advanced with CVS, so i might be a
little wrong, but a patch like this should be made off of the HEAD branch,
right? How do I grab the head branch, i tend to just do

cvs -z3 co gnome-core

Ok, thats a good question, do people run into any complications having
both gtk1.2 and gtk1.3 installed?

Not currently, we will do a jump once the development platform has
been frozen. The APIs change enough that it will require all
the modules to be branched.

ok, so the current development branch is still using gtk 1.2?

Thanks for the info!
