[gnome-love] New gnome application idea.

Hello all,
I would like to put forward a suggestion for a new gnome
application: I know that I can run X sessions on multiple displays (:0,
:1, etc) but most new users probably don't know about this, and if they
get automatically logged on when their computer boots (I've seen several
new linux distros that do this), it may never occur to them that it's
possible.

My suggestion is an application that looks basically like GDM in a window,
with an important difference: It says something like "The X session you
are looking at is displaying on localhost:0 (ctrl+alt+F7). Where do you
want to start the new X session?" and gives you a drop down list from
which you can select a display. The rest is as in the existing GDM. You
get asked for the username and password of the user who wants to be on
ctrl+alt+F8 or ctrl+alt+F9 etc.

I would be quite willing to put some time into this, but I don't have much
experience with gnome. I know C and C++ pretty well, and I've worked a
lot with other toolkits (especially fltk) but I'd probably need some help
to do this. Please let me know if you're interested.

Best wishes,
                Bill.
