Hello,
I was playing with the externally managed concept and I experienced the
following :
modifying an autocreated/autoconnected profile corresponding to an
externally managed device seems to be (silently) auto-reapplied.
Afterward, once NetworkManager takes over (and really manages the
device), everything is back to normal. Is this a legit/normal situation ?
Ex :
# ip address add 192.168.10.200/24 dev eth1
# nmcli connexion modify eth1 802-3-ethernet.mtu 9000
# ip addr shows eth1 has changed its mtu for 9000, no device reapplied
or connexion up has been needed and no message (as in nmcli device
modify) telling anything has been reapplied.
My guess is that's normal since telling a profile has been reapplied
would imply that de device is (normally) managed...Since behavior
surprised me.
Thanks
