Hi there!

I'm new to this list because I couldn't find any usefull answer to my
question(s). But I found this thread and I now will try my luck again. :)

So, here is my problem:
I use Ubuntu and connect to an unencrypted/open network (WLAN) at my
university. After that I have to use the Cisco VPN client (with username
and password) to establish a functional internet connection *horribleiknow*.
  -> Since some weeks/months the WLAN connection is very unstable.

Look at this two short parts of my log files (syslog & loop with
iwconfig) I recorded to document the phenomena:

I'm using an ASUS eeePC 1000 with
* Ubuntu 10.10
* wpa_supplicant v0.7.3
* nm-applet v0.8.1.998
* WLAN chip RaLink RT2860 (module rt2860sta)

I hope someone can help me because using the internet at my univerity at
the moment is not realy possible. - By disconnecting a mean of every 3-5
minutes and the problem that my VPN account is disabled for 20 minutes
after 3 (within a short timeframe) logins, I can't work and I'm realy
frustrated...
Please ask me questions if you have some - I'll try to answer!

Thanks and best regards,
Kai

PS:
I hope it's O.K. that I 'hijacked' this thread!
