T-Mobile webconnect rocket 2.0 problem

Hi i am using T-Mobile webconnect rocket 2.0[zte mf691] (unlocked one
with Aircel sim from india) in ubuntu 10.04 lucid with nm 0.9 and mm 0.5
from tsplinder ppa(https://launchpad.net/~tspindler)
But the
connection established as a wired network connection( as the device has a
pseudo ethernet port as said in
http://blogs.gnome.org/dcbw/2011/01/01/modemmanager-and-zte-icera-based-devices/)
so that i couldnt check signal strenght.
Is ther any way to disable
that pseudo ethernet device and connect it as a Mobile broadband device
in nm? And also when i disconnect there is no actual disconnection as
the modem LED indicator shows its connected.
