usb stick and openvpn

Hello,
I've finally determined that networkmanager cannot connect through my usb stick (Onda MT833UP) while the network-manager-openvpn-gnome package is installed.
I'm using ubuntu 11.04 (2.6.38-8-generic).
Any suggestion?
