First of all, if you use NetworkManager, you don't probably want to use
'network' legacy service, so disable it (if you meant this service by
'restarted the network').
How did you configured the connection?
Please grab /var/log/messages for us to see NM log, otherwise it is hard to
guess what's wrong.
