I would look under /sys/class/net/<interface>/device/ - it is expected to have driver symlink, like {pts/3}% ll /sys/class/net/eth0/device/driver lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 2010-07-12 06:17 /sys/class/net/eth0/device/driver -> ../../../../bus/pci/drivers/tg3/
