It also may be a bug in the rate scaling of the wifi card that's sharing
the connection. There have been problems in the past where the kernel's
wifi rate scaling would get stuck on 1Mb/s or 11Mb/s or whatever. When
it's really, really slow, run 'iwconfig wlan0' and see what the rate is
to find out if maybe this is the problem.
