Wireless Network Fails to Initialize

I finally got my Wireless Network running without using NetworkManager as files:

First I shutdown the NetworkManager Service
Then I updated the ifcfg-wlan0 as listed below:
I then started the network service.

So what we seem to have is NetworkManager not initializing ifcfg-wlan0 correctly,
at least it seems to me. The only real change I made was to add the
IWCONFIG="key  7DBC63BBEEFCD68B872F051CC2"  parameter.
So for the time being it seems that I cannot use the NetworkManager Service.

I joined the List forum but am unsure if this is the correct way to send in a problem. Anyway here it is.

Wireless Connection Fails to Initialize; adapter is accessible (Green Light is On) but NetworkManager is unable to access; see information below.
Of course the problem may be in the Kernel but its difficult to know.

I'm no expert, but the 3 things I try when NM doesn't work
(not an infrequent occurrence):

1. Run "sudo iwlist scan".
If that sees something then the problem is certainly with the NM setup.

2. Try the network service instead of NM;
	sudo service NetworkManager stop
	sudo service network restart

3. Check that the entry in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlan0
is reasonably accurate.

4. Check /var/log/messages .
Unfortunately NM produces so much verbiage in that file
it is quite difficult to pick out the relevant lines.

You see, one thing is, I can live with doubt and uncertainty and not knowing. I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers that might be wrong. I have approximate answers and possible beliefs and different degrees of certainty about different things, but I'm not absolutely sure of anything and there are many things I don't know anything about, such as whether it means anything to ask why we're here, and what the question might mean. I might think about it a little bit and if I can't figure it out, then I go on to something else, but I don't have to know an answer, I don't feel frightened by not knowing things, by being lost in a mysterious universe without having any purpose, which is the way it really is so far as I can tell. It doesn't frighten me. Richard P Feynman
