DSL connection impossible with NM applet 0.7.996 (was ok with 0.7.0.100)

first of all thank you for your great work. I am new on the list.

I can not connect internet (DSL connection without router, requiring
login+password) with Ubuntu 9.10 (NM applet 0.7.996), but I can do it
with Ubuntu 9.04 (NM applet 0.7.0.100) by .

Is it a known bug/regression? or is there something I am doing wrong?
