It doesn't look that special; as long as (a) the driver recognizes it as
a modem device, and (b) the CDROM thing is ejected and the modem shows
up as a serial port, it looks like NM should already support it.
To test, run NM like so:
NM_SERIAL_DEBUG=1 /usr/sbin/NetworkManager --no-daemon
and then try to connect, and if it fails, make sure to mail the full log
output of NM.
