It should, that's what the 'domain_search' option is for. (RFC 3397,
option 119).

That RFC appears to be a proposal that isn't widely implemented.
There is nothing on my DHCP host machine that indicates there
is any support for it.

dhcpcd-3.x upwards supports it.
NM-0.7 supports dhcpcd-4.0 upwards.

Another solution would be to use resolvconf (which NM-0.7 supports) and get that to add the domains to the search path that NM supplies.
