Unstable connection with WPA2 and iwl3945

Hello!

I installed Xubuntu 8.04 on my Thinkpad T60p, which has this WLAN chipset:

| 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
| Network Connection (rev 02)

The module which handles this hardware is called iwl3945:

| filename: /lib/modules/2.6.24-18-generic/ubuntu/wireless/iwlwifi/iwlwifi/compatible/iwl3945.ko
| license: GPL
| author: Copyright(c) 2003-2007 Intel Corporation
| version: 1.2.0
| description: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG/BG Network Connection driver for Linux

Without any configuration I was able to use a non-encrypted wireless
network. But when I wanted to login into a WPA2-network, I cannot do
more than receiving an IP via DHCP. All settings (DNS for example) are
correct, but when I start to ping a host, NetworkManager drops the
connection and tries to open a new one.

Here is the daemon.log:

| NetworkManager: <info> Activation (wlan0) Stage 5 of 5 (IP Configure Commit) complete.
| ntpdate[7521]: adjust time server 91.189.94.4 offset 0.001178 sec
| avahi-daemon[5463]: Registering new address record for fe80::213:2ff:fe0e:37d3 on wlan0.*.
| NetworkManager: <info> Supplicant state changed: 0
| NetworkManager: <WARN> request_and_convert_scan_results(): card took too much time scanning. Get a better one.
| NetworkManager: <info> wlan0: link timed out.
| NetworkManager: <info> SWITCH: found better connection 'wlan0/MYSSID' than current connection 'wlan0/MYSSID'.
| same_ssid=1, have_link=0
| NetworkManager: <info> Will activate connection 'wlan0/MYSSID'.
| NetworkManager: <info> Device wlan0 activation scheduled...
| NetworkManager: <info> Deactivating device wlan0

Does anyone know what causes this problem? When I use wpa_supplicant
instead all works fine with this module.

TIA
 Stephan
