I don't think this would work very well. There are certain openvpn
options that are required for it to play nicely with NetworkManager (for
example --route-noexec is required to prevent openvpn from competing
with NetworkManager in setting up routing). Not sure if there are others
off hand. You would also lose the ability to use the keyring for storing
passwords.
How about either an option for importing openvpn config files into the
property window, or a utility for converting an openvpn config file into
one suitable for importing using NetworkManager's existing import
option?
