turning off networkmanager control of eth0

Hi,
I'm doing networking software development on a RHEL 5 that has networkmanager and need to have full control of my eth0 device. On Ubuntu I could can turn it off by remvoing the 'auto' line from /etc/network/interfaces. How do I control that on Redhat?
