A feature I would personally like to see is some sort of mini event log
window that can be displayed from the nm-applet. It would have an entry
for every time a connection was taken down or tried to be brought up, and
would also show the reason, e.g. something like:
12:30 resume after suspend
12:01 connected to foo2
12:01 trying foo2
12:01 disconnecting from eth0: ethernet cable detached
11:50 connected to eth0
11:50 disconnecting from foo2: ethernet cable attached
11:40 connected to foo2
11:40 trying foo2
11:40 failed to connect to foo1: WEP authentication failed
11:40 trying foo1
11:40 startup
Currently the 'user experience' is that NM seems to randomly try to
connect to various things, and sometimes silently fails. And sometimes
randomly disconnects again. Having to wade through /var/log/messages isn't
really the answer.
Ideally it would also show *why* it chose a particular AP.
Just MHO etc,
Dave.
