NetworkManager performs wireless scans at various intervals, starting at
20 seconds and backing off to 120 seconds.  What driver and kernel are
you using, and if you're using an Intel Pro/Wireless card, what version
of the ieee80211 stack?  (Driver can be determined by Connection
Information from right-clicking on the applet)
