madwifi 0.9.0, NM 0.6.3 and back of association problems

Got NetworkManager 0.6.3, working with a March snapshot of madwifi.

I upgraded to madwifi 0.9.0 and now the old "association problems" went back:

Jun 11 11:50:50 argh NetworkManager: <information>^IActivation
(ath0/wireless): association took too long (>40s), failing activation.

I compiled madwifi with and without the February patch that solves
association fixes.

Any light on this? Thanks in advance.
