My brain is lagging a little this morning and I'm not quite sure where 
to start with that.
Any suggestions are welcomed.

fyi: I'm using Gentoo with a recent version of HAL (version 0.5.5.1) 
specifically the Gentoo hal-0.5.5.1-r3 ebuild.
No other HAL apps appear to have had difficulty compiling however.
