Hi,
I just finished compiling nm from cvs on gentoo and had to
- manually add libnl-1.pc
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/networkmanager-list/2005-November/msg00175.html
- patch nm with with nm-if-header-compile-fix-1.patch
- update gnome-keyring from 0.4.2 to 0.4.4, because of
undefined gnome_keyring_item_delete_sync (new in 0.4.3)
- changed dbus namespaces from com.redhat.* and /com/redhat/* to
org.gentoo (otherwise it crashes here)
Now I can start NetworkManager and nm-applet, which scans for all wlans
and offers me the key dialog, afterwards nm-applet disappears and NM
crashes without reason. BTW. The error reporting is very bad - from a
users point of view I would expect more reporting from nm and nm-applet,
what the actual problem is and how to solve it.
- when no dbus is running, it crashes/stops
- no hald running, I get no devices in nm
- dhcpd problems lead to crashes/exits of nm
Just some notes. I would gladly test more...
Nikolaus
