I installed NM in my Ubuntu (Dapper), and use netatalk so my Linux drive
shows up on my Macintosh (PPC 6500). Even though the connection is working
over my network, the menubar icon shows No Network Connection when I pass
the mouse over it.
Is there something more than installing NM that I have to do?

ps...at first I'd thought of including a screenshot, but then didn't know
if this list
excludes or delets attachments. Not that it's necessary for describing the
problem, but I thought I'd ask.

Hey,

This may possibly be a ubuntu only bug but I have had no response on the
forums or the bug I filed at
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/38796

Here are my symptoms (NM 0.6.2);

If the wireless interface is configured manually and the the pc is restarted
then the daemon doesnt start. This may be normal behavior though

If the interface is left unconfigured and the pc restarted then the daemon
doesnt start either.

If i start network-manger manually using --no-daemon and then start the
applet then I get the behavior attached. It never gets and IP. If seems to
need help (see below)

The only way NM now works is if I first configure the iface manually, join
the AP and confirm everything works. I then reconfigure the iface disabling
both and restart the daemon.

This way it works fine. This is the only scenario that actually works. I
have attached the output for this case also.
This has only started happening in the last few days, either since the
kernal upgrade or since the upgrade to NM 0.6.2

I have attached the output from network manager and nm-applet to the bug
report linked above.

I hope someone can help me debug this!

Thanks

John

I have exactly the same problem on Asus A6JC CoreDuo laptop.
I commented the eth0 lines in /etc/network/interfaces as I read somewhere
though but I still got "no network connexion" too :(

Hi,

Running Ubuntu Dapper Flight 6 with network-manager 0.6 installed.

I just got network-manager to connect to the WPA-TKIP with PEAP network
on my university's campus.

Each time I get disconnected, I have to manually setup the connection to
the university's wireless network again.

Is there any way to save the WPA-TKIP with PEAP connection as a profile
so that in future I do not have to manually setup the connection?

Gill

Hi,

Is it possible to have more than one eth device configured and active (in
different subnets) under NetworkManager?

I've got a 10/100 device (broadcom tg3 driver) and a wireless (ipw2200)
interface that I'd like to use dhcp to configure (this already works, so not a
"how do I do this from a dhcpd perspective question) but they belong to
different subnets (with different routing configs as well) and have different
purposes. NM seems to believe that the "only" way to use more than one network
device on a laptop/desktop system is to switch between the two?

I'd like to be able to have both under NM control, but at the same time allow
them both to be configured and active (on different subnets). Is there a way to
make that happen or do I have to go the ifup/ifdown route?

tia,

// Thomas
