Yeah... but not uncommon, at least here...

Immagine a student hostel, the wireless AP is meant for nothing but a shared
internet gateway for all students in the house. Everyone can register only 
one MAC address for free internet access, so things like copying data e.g. 
from your desktop to your notebook forces you to use a wired connection. 
Looks like such a use-case won't be covered by NM?
