Hello,
Now that we are encouraged to upload tarballs compressed with xz in
lieu of gzip on ftp.gnome.org, I made the change in our build system.
Tested and applied to master.

* configure.ac: Change AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE to avoid generate gzipped
tarballs, and generate xz compressed tarballs instead.
