OK, this makes sense to me.  I am thinking we should create a gtk3
branch into which we could push the reviewed patches related to this
effort.  That branch will eventually become master, I guess.  The
details of how we move from here to the GNOME3 platform proper is
something we need to figure out I guess.

Thanks.  I have committed it to the master branch.
