adding widgets to the main ui using python extensions

First of all, please excuse me if my question is somewhat... stupid :P

Is it possible to add any gtk+ widgets to the main ui of nautilus using 
the python extensions. If so, is it possible to provide an example?

I read about the providing (column,menu,property,etc) interfaces, but 
maybe i`m missing something?
