Thumbnail Generation

Hi,

I'm writing an extension on nautilus, and I was wondering if there's already an existing way to turn off thumbnail on a per file basis via the extension. 

I noticed that inside private, nautilus-thumbnails.c:nautilus_can_thumbnail 
that can disable thumbnailing as well as other functions such as size.  

Is there a way to disable thumbnailing via a call on the extension or is there any plan to allow user to disable this.
