Device status bar

The Nautilus places sidebar desperately needs to be
single click activated. As I understand, the problem
lies with devices that can't be automounted. I think
the natural solution would be if selecting such a
device would bring up an empty folder along with a
device status bar, similar to the trash bar, with
options for mounting the device etc. This would allow
single click activation, and would comply with best
practices, that objects are manipulated in the main view.
