Dragging works IMHO, dropping isn't very challenging either but I'll start working on it after bug 309844 [1] has been committed, since it touches many codelines near those which are touched by the patch under [1]. > > * Context menus for path/sidebar. Oh, I didn't even realize that people want to work on the sidebar. But now that you bring it up, they can do this for the treeview - why shouldn't they be able to do it for the sidebar? The patch under [1] could easily be extended. > I think dnd to a pathbar icon is useful, but features like dnd from the > pathbar, renaming or moving there is not good. > > I would not want people to "work" with the pathbar icons. They *will* want to do this, although you don't want them. Users don't care what our rationale is. They just think: "Oh, there is a path representing "/var/lib/my/dir", so let's rename "dir" to "foo", no matter whether I'm looking at "/var/lib/my/dir/foobar/deep/in/hierarchy". I'm sure they consider the pathbar straightforward for operating on a whole hierarchy. Together with the tree view they can work on all files above and below the viewed one.
