I know ROX but it's not in Gnome Nautilus :-)

I have installed Ubuntu and used Apt-get. For core components its ideal, 
easy tu update like windows update but for little GUI Apps like Firefox 
etc I would prefer AppDir's.

At the moment I intruduce myself in gnome-vfs but I don't know if it is 
the right place.
